I'm officially hooked on this anime. I've seen six episodes of this one so far, and am doing an afternoon anime-watching marathon of this one [as usual, nothing interesting is on TV]. If sci-fi anime is something you are into, you might like this show. Mind you - if you're looking for the usual sort of shoot 'em up or mecha-anime fair, Ergo Proxy might not be to your liking. I like it because it has an interesting storyline and manages to include references to mythology and philosophy, both Eastern and Western.
The story is set in a post apocalyptic future with the outside world having been ravaged by a global ecological disaster. The remaining people live within Romdeau City, a place considered to be a utopia by its citizens. Humans and androids, refered to as Autoraves, co-exist with each other for the most part. However, Autoraves that become infected with a virus referred to as the Cogito Virus become self aware and often violent towards humans, and for this reason are hunted down. The story centers around a woman named Real Mayer, an investigator who is the granddaughter of the regent of the city. She finds the utopia that humans have built boring, with life from day to day the same as those before it. She soon gets more excitement than she bargained for as she realizes that the recent deaths of humans that have been attributed to infected Autoraves may actually be due to another being.
I'm enjoying it so far. It's a thought-provoking mystery of sorts that has maintained my attention. I'll be delving back into this one in a little bit. And any anime that chooses a Radiohead song as its end theme is alright by me. XD
It took them long enough, but they enabled crossposting from VOX, among other things. Still no groups or such, but maybe later. I've got a midnight-themed layout over there [no black feathers, though].
I've been looking for something to fulfill an anime fix and/or a sci-fi fix. I heard about this one anime called Ergo Proxy which might fulfill both. It's reportedly a dark and violent sci-fi mystery, so I'm going to give it a try to see how it is.
